Mules are passive mobs in Minecraft. Mules can't be spawned with a spawn egg, and can't be found naturally. Mules can be created by breeding a horse and a donkey. They are one of the four rideable mobs in Minecraft. The other rideable mobs are pigs, horses, and donkeys

Appearance[]

Mules are shorter than horses, but are slightly larger than donkeys. They have the characteristics of both donkeys (The ears) and horses (The color, tail, and more).

Breeding[]

To breed a mule, the player has to have a donkey and a horse. To activate love mode between them, the player will have to feed them a Golden Apple or a Golden Carrot. They will then run towards each other, and a baby mule will be born in between them.

Usage[]

Just like donkeys, mules can't wear horse armor. They can carry items for the player, which makes them useful as well if the player doesn't have any inventory space left.

Riding[]

Just like donkeys and horses, you have to tame a mule before you can ride it. Once it has been tamed, all the player has to do is click on it, and the player will then be riding it. If the player clicks on it without a saddle, then the player will be riding it, but the player won't be in control of where it is going. In order to control the mules movements, the player must put a saddle on it first, and then ride it.

Taming[]

Just like horses and donkeys, to tame a mule the player has to click on it a coupe of times. It will attempt to throw the player off. After a few attempts, it will be tamed, and then the player can place a saddle on it and control it's movements.

Mules V.S. Donkeys[]

Mules are actually better to use than donkeys. Mules can carry items for the player, just like donkeys. But they can also be faster than the fastest donkey if they are bred with a really fast horse and a really fast donkey. That makes them able to carry items, and be more efficient in getting places.

Trivia[]

  • In Console edition, there are mule spawn eggs.
    • This is no longer a version exclusive, as mule (and Donkey spawn eggs) were added to MCPE in 0.15.0 and to MCPC in 1.10.
