Modded? No

Ghasts are hostile mobs that spawn naturally in the Nether. Their method of transportation is floating.

Spawn[]

Ghasts spawn naturally in the Nether. They can also be spawned through a ghast spawn egg. Before Update 0.12.1 in MCPE, Ghasts could be only obtained through the use of inventory editors.

Appearance[]

Ghasts are creatures composed of a base and nine tentacles. Outside, all of their body is monochrome. On the front, ghast faces have their eyes and mouth closed, bearing a sad look. Tear stains appear under their eyes, and scared eyebrow marks appear over. Forking patterns appear on the tops of their bases, and short dash patterns appear elsewhere. Underneath, a large hole is present. Nine tentacles protrude the hole. No innards appear inside the hole, giving the illusion that ghasts are hollow. However, when they attack, a red inside shows.

Combat[]

Ghasts attacks by opening their mouths, shooting a fireball that explodes on contact with a block or mob. A bow is recommended, as they can float. A fire resistance potion would be useful too, so the player will not burn from the fireballs.

Trivia[]

  • The player can kill a ghast by deflecting its fireball, which will give the player an achievment. Ghasts emit a mourning gurgle when killed.
  • They are currently the largest non-boss mob that spawns naturally.
